Bethany Beyond the Jordan – Baptism Site ( the place where Jesus was baptized ) :
The site of John the Baptist’s settlement where Jesus was baptized is situated in the pristine natural environment on the eastern bank of the River Jordan, nine kilometers north of the Dead Seaand half an hour by car from Amman. It features Roman and Byzantine remains including churches and chapels, a monastery, caves that were used by hermits and pools in which baptisms were performed.
